i just turned 18 last Sep. 3 and I felt the responsibility of being a more disciplined citizen now. That feeling became more intense when I got the chance to read Alex Lacson’s book 12 Little Things Every Filipino Can Do To Help Our Country. The best! It honestly affected me. Job well done

These 12 little things are really spot on… But honestly, it is really no use in just making the FIlipino people aware of these 12 things. The common denominator for the backward progress of our nation (this also goes for the world) is HUMAN FOLLY. The modern world has been abusing its freedom such that it caused all the major things that make a country go worse and worse. What we Filipinos should do is to STOP GREED. stop the Greed for power, wealth, fame, possessions, and we even greed for time.

Filipinos are known to be a lot of good things, not the least of which is their tenacity in holding on to kernels of hope, however small. Our problem is that we focus so much on the faults of other people and not on what we can do to improve what we are. This book is all about human decency, about respecting other people and the environment and expecting to be respected in return.

I agree 100%. A good Catholic will always stand by these tenets. Heb 13:17 says ” Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.” For me, it states that any good act, however small can have a huge impact in the long run. So if every Filipino would have the same attitude, think how far this country would’ve gone in the right direction?

If only all of us, Filipino people will be implying these 12 LITTLE things in our daily lives, maybe we won’t be suffering too much right now from different country issues that we have. This leads to a better future that we are all aiming for a long time. These things can be easily done as easy as A B C but would still be a great impact if only all of us are into it.

Why haven’t we started this before? Just doing these 12 little things reflect our love for our country. We don’t need to sacrifice too much to make a change. Start it with yourself. You’ll never know how much you can contribute just by doing these simple things. But still, the happiest part of it will be going over this bucket list of sorts and applying it in our daily life. Start it today!

I wonder why some people always have to say negative things on probably all things that is conceived to be right?? Let us all help in Alex Lacson’s noble cause..

I want to focus on Number 10. “The Paying of Taxes”. It is but very patriotic to pay taxes because it is the bloodline of our government. For the middle class citizens, the workers in private firms, government workers and the skilled workers in construction projects, they are our “Heroes of all times”. Their salaries are automatically deducted withholding taxes. I just want to comment on how the government will monitor on those professionals, businessmen, and other citizens who does not want to pay taxes. First are the businessmen – I know some of the businessmen are faithfully paying their taxes for every income derived from their businesses. But most of them (about 99%) are not paying their taxes. Secondly, the professionals and educated even to their doctoral degrees – accountants, attorneys, engineers, doctors who are receiving the highest professional fees – they are the Number Two tax evaders. Thirdly, the movie actors and actresses – they’re just the same as those in number two.
