Entrepreneur*- Nature or Nurture (origins of the entrepreneur)

There are two theories about how entrepreneurs develop, often called the “supply” and “demand” theories. In the supply theory, entrepreneurs are born, not made — certain people have the personality traits that make a good entrepreneur. Several research studies have shown that entrepreneurs are convinced that they can command their own destinies, or in the jargon of behaviorial scientists, the “locus of control” of the entrepreneur lies within himself. It is this self-belief which stimulates the entrepreneur, according to supply-side theorists. John G. Burch, writing in the September-October 1986 edition of Business Horizons gave a list of in-born traits that make an Read more »

Petition for People’s Initiative dismissed

The Supreme Court dismissed the recent petition (Lambino, et al. vs. COMELEC) seeking to revise the Constitution through people’s initiative. In a 52-page decision, the SC ruled in part that the proposal to shift the present bicameral-presidential system to a unicameral-parliamentary system is contrary to the Constitution. Read more »

Defending against desecration of Constitution

“This Court cannot betray its primordial duty to defend and protect the Constitution. The Constitution, which embodies the people’s sovereign will, is the bible of this Court. This Court exists to defend and protect the Constitution. To allow this constitutionally infirm initiative, propelled by deceptively gathered signatures, to alter basic principles in the Constitution is to allow a desecration of the Constitution. To allow such alteration and desecration is to lose this Court’s raison d’etre.”
- Justice Carpio, ponente
Lambino vs. COMELEC (G.R. No. 174153),
dismissing the petition for people’s initiative
filed by Raul Lambino, et al.

Divorce – a call for arguments

It’s hardly surprising that divorce is a popular topic and among the top internet searches. There’s a lot of people just waiting for the right opportunity to end their respective marriages. The reasons are diverse – physical abuse (against the spouse and/or the children), sexual infidelity, irreconcilable differences and conflicting personalities, gross irresponsibility, loss (and transfer) of affection, among others. 3-column K2 wordpress theme: help needed

This site is based on the cool K2 theme (note: we’re obviously using another theme now). It’s pretty obvious but I just have to say it again (let’s just say it’s a way of supporting something great). The FAQ at Binary Bonsai says that the chances of a 3-column K2 being released is slim and if its going to happen, its going to happen late in the process. Read more »

An issue with Trademark Attribution For Dummies

I stumbled on an article entitled “The Meaning of Life for Dummies” through reddit. I’m reminded of a site discussing its brush with intellectual property litigation for using the “For Dummies” phrase in “Ulysses for Dummies” (read here). There’s also a similar and more recent issue involving Jason Calacanis who used the blog title “Super Bowl guide for dummies”, as noted at the Trademark Blog (here and here) and the BuzzMachine. Building a Better Blog or Blawg

This post was originally intended to discuss sitemeter and analytics, which logically follows the previous posts on platforms and search engines. After the Baguio weekend vacation, however, I’ve decided to consolidate and include everything done so far in this site. Read more »

The Guru of Destabilization

It seems to me he (Bernas) is the guru of destabilization. Everything he says is always against the President. The problem with Bernas is that he thinks he’s the only one who knows the law. . . the Constitution.”

lashing out against the highly-respected
Constitutionalist, Fr. Joaquin Bernas
