The diverse opinions on the 2007 bar examination expressed in this site probably reflects the level of “controversy” surrounding it. I agree that more reforms are needed, although it’s unfair to say that the Supreme Court is not doing anything about it. I agree that the Supreme Court is not perfect, but any effort to destroy its credibility, especially when based on mere allegations, should never be allowed as it brings more harm. I agree that some are luckier than others, but it’s unfair to attribute everything to luck because we all know the extreme difficulty in preparing for the bar exams. I agree that there’s nothing else we could do because the result was already released, but it’s unfair to tell those who want to express their respective opinions to shut up.
To those who made it, congratulations. May you be magnanimous in victory. All bar examinees are on the same boat, so to speak, and the victory of some is never anchored on the fact that others didn’t make it. Go ahead and celebrate, but always err on the side of restraint.
To the majority who will have to wait, let’s move on, and may the future be favorable to you. Life goes on. In closing, allow me to paraphrase the words of Supreme Court Chief Justice Reynato Puno, for those who refuse to let their dreams die:
Related Posts:The Supreme Court has exercised its exclusive power of accepting new members to the legal profession. Let us all respect its judgment. The Almighty has a plan for all of us and I agree that the All Seeing Eye does not play dice with our destinies. Indeed, even pain has a purpose.
I dispel all rumors that I will not pursue my dream of becoming a lawyer. Those who desire to reduce me to posthumous significance will not experience any ecstasy.
I will continue to work as a humble student of the law and as always, I pledge to fight for the civil liberties of the people against abuses coming from any and all sources, to do battle with vested interests especially those who believe they have a divine right to selfishness and to protect the institutional independence of the courts against threats of tampering from within and without their portals.
I wish the new lawyers for 2008 all the best!

Tinkering with internet tools comes with the bonus of better understanding how existing laws apply to the third wave - that of technology, particularly the internet. This is also a great medium to disseminate and discuss ideas across borders, time, color or creed.

thanx for the kind words. it would be a big honor for me if ever my own humble Bar exam experience could also serve as a practical advice to law students like you and to barristers like ***asterisk***.
right now, no definite plans yet for me after taking my oath. my immediate plan after taking my oath is to show up at the Supreme Court during the signing of the Attorney’s Roll on the date specified, hehe…. after all, that is the final act required before one becomes a full-fledged member of the Philippine Bar. but seriously, i’ll just maintain the status quo at the moment and walk the path wherever God leads me. I’m a CPA by profession and i already told myself that i’ll stay at my present job as an accountant for a makati-based firm until i can figure out for myself where i could be of better use to society.
and since you also asked the forum members for advice regarding juggling time between working and studying, allow me to share my 2-cents worth of advice since i was also a working student myself while in law school.
first, maximize your time. if you’re in an 8 am to 5 pm job. better wake up early to study, use office lunch breaks to study, and stay still midnight to study (but don’t forget to rest also)
second, let go of unnecessary distractions like gimiks with barkadas and other distractions. they’ll eat up precious time which otherwise could have been devoted to reading piles of assigned case readings in law school. i tell you, you’ll have all the time in the world for gimiks after the Bar exams.
third, study smart not hard. know what law materials to study and how to conduct your study more effectively. touch base with law school classmates and if possible find a classmate who is as passionate as you are in studying the law. they make good company.
lastly, pray, pray, pray. don’t forget to ask Divine Providence for strength and wisdom. even if you’re still a sophomore, ask God to help you make it sa Bar exams.
good luck to your studies. God bless you always….

PLEASE READ:
BAR MATTER 1209.JULY 1,2003
Tha COURT resolved, among others,that…..”THE OATH IS THUS A PREREQUISITE TO THE ADMISSION TO THE PRACTICE OF LAW WHILE THE SIGNING IN THE ROLL IS THE LAST ACT THAT FINALLY SIGNIFIES MEMBERSHIP IN THE BAR,…..
“THE UNAUTHORIZED USE OF SAID APPELLATION(ATTY.) MAY RENDER A PERSON LIABLE FOR INDIRECT CONTEMPT OF COURT.”
this is a case wherein the petitioner-bar passer affixed before his name the title “atty.”the court did not allow him to take the lawyers’ oath.
just like in political law and in criminl law,an oath is is important because it is the final act before a public officer can discharged the powers and duties of his office.
…i think still waiting should use the username “pretty 3″.kasi yung isa lex888,naging number 8.pretty 3 maging number 3.you know what i mean.wag lang yung number 1:}

Goodluck to all of you!! to those who will take their oath tomorrow, don’t forget the responsibilities that are attached to the lawyer’s oath. great power comes great responsibilities. may the forces of nature be with you all as you traverse the “road less travelled.” the legal profession…to atty marforth…congratz..as well as to pussycat aka atty fernandez…daghang salamat.
