Bar Examinees of 2009: Congratulations and God Bless

October 6, 2009

Time flies so fast. It seems there was never enough time to study and prepare for 4 grueling Sundays. Same thing even if there was an extension of one week, due to Ondoy. There was certainly no enough time to finish answering all the questions, especially with the unbearable number of questions in the 2009 bar, some say. I can’t judge because I haven’t seen the questions. Perhaps in the days to come, when these questions are dissected at phBar.

Time flies so fast, until last Sunday, 4 October 2009, the last day of the bar exams. After two full days of rest, our battle-weary examinees will begin to realize that, henceforth, time will slow down to an agonizing crawl.

Every day will be a test of patience. Every rumor will be magnified. The suspense will boil to point where you cease to care if you pass or fail — let’s just get this over with (ok, I may be wrong, of course you’d care if you pass or fail).

So, as the waiting game begins, let me to congratulate everyone for surviving the four Sundays of mind-numbing exams. Good luck and God bless, as you wait for the release of the results. You’ll be in our prayers.

Update: It’s Friday, 26 March 2010.

Update: Let’s congratulate everyone who’ve made the interaction in this post interesting (for the rest, please identify yourself so we could add you to the list):

Bauzon, Edward R. (think positive a.k.a. ondoy at manila times)
Dalawampu, Louie Mark M. (bubwit)
Dayo, Jesus Frederick D. (hunter killer)
Espejo, Bernadette B. (badetski)
Garce-Mejia, Racquel F. (on bended knees)
Magcamit, Eric Jay A. (ELA)
Pepito, Charisse Faith T. (miss preggy)
Tagaloguin, Fritz Z. (daques)
Toledo, Maria Joy O. (getintheaction)

Again, congratulations. I hope to see you all in court.

Hello friends and foes! I’m back for my daily lecture. Hihihi.

There’s an internal conflict among SC justices because of the recent voting on the appointment of chief justice. Will this affect the en banc session for this year’s bar passers? We’ll see this Friday. Abangan!

    >_. I’m glad you appreciate my posts.

Here’s the thing: I’m not into sugarcoating things. I label an apple an apple. I don’t give false hopes to my clients. I tell them outright If I think theirs is a losing case even if they have the best lawyer in me. And no, I don’t bribe fiscals, labor arbiters, judges, sheriffs, et al just to please my clients. And I HATE it that others do that. That’s why I don’t want people like them to pass the bar.

I actually have two types of undeserving lawyers: the MORALLY CORRUPT ones and the INCOMPETENT ONES. The former are absolutely not entitled to pass the bar. The latter may be given conditional pass to practice the law but they must shape up, otherwise ship out of the law profession. I’m tired of meeting lawyers who are so inept and who don’t even have the basic aptitude to practice law. Yung mga sumabit lang talaga.

    1. absolutely not entitled
    2. shipt out
    3. so inept
    4. sumabit lng talga

psst.. kapag binabaan ang rate from 75.. yung idadagdag sa totoong pumasa ang sabit lang?

  16. gudjob on March 17, 2010 at 2:44 pm

@ ELA: Yes, that’s what it is. Kasi kung kaya ng iba na pumasa without the adjusted passing rate, why can’t the others do it as well?

  17. ELA on March 17, 2010 at 2:49 pm

points….. kung ganun nga at so tired sya.. probably out of ten lawyers.. 7 ang undeserving.. ung 3 ay ano..

kung ung 3 ay deserving.. may kinalaman ba eto kung saan ka ngraduate.. hahaha

baka among others ung 7?,, naku nasa among others ako… sabit,,, hahaha

    di bale papasa tayo..

      @ ELA:

Excelling at something should not be determined by the school in which you study. Admittedly, Manila-based schools have an edge as they have better professors and facilities. But this should not students from other schools to be content of what they have. Try to be extra creative. Case in point: those coming from provincial schools who top the bar. Their success stories are admirable and worth emulating. Show these Manila-based schools that they don’t have the monopoly of success, of being excellent law students. We have the same law, the same set of jurisprudence. It’s just a matter of being resourceful and being extra diligent.

Having said that, I am rooting for a student from a provincial school to top this year’s bar exams.

  19. gudjob on March 17, 2010 at 2:49 pm

@ OMG: Thank you. Again, I am not claiming that I am a perfect lawyer. But at least, I try to do my best in whatever I do, be it a simple motion or a petition for certiorari. I abhor mediocrity. Naiinsulto ako sa mediocre work or sa mediocre na kalaban. Huwag mong sayangin ang oras ko sa court room kung hindi ka prepared.

      @ gudjob

Panyero, idol na kita, walang biro… hehehe… I can see that you’re a well meaning lawyer and you bring a different dimension to this forum. I was a 2007 Bar passer and admittedly, not so deserving during the time I passed in 2008 (read: lucky) but somehow, I’ve come a long way na since then because I had to prove that I also deserved my place in the legal profession. You know, na-misunderstood ka lang talaga ng mga people here most specially the Bar hopefuls dahil sa pagkaka-deliver ng lines mo, medyo naging prangka ka lang siguro. If I were in the shoes of the 2009 Bar examinees, talagang medyo ma-o-offend din talaga ako, although now, I see view the things you said differently. Pero in fairness to you, totoo naman talaga yun’g mga sinabi mo.

I know a lot of my former classmates and friends in law school who sames as the people in this forum, are eagerly awaiting for the Bar exam results. My prayers goes to each and everyone. May God give you all the desires of your heart. Yes, to be realistic about it, not everyone will make this year, but there’s always hope. We just have to put our trust in the Divine Providence who will make us lawyers in the temple of justice in his own beautiful time. Again, all the best to the 2009 Bar hopefuls. :-)
