Bar Examinees of 2009: Congratulations and God Bless
This is my site Posted on October 6, 2009 in Bar Exams

Time flies so fast. It seems there was never enough time to study and prepare for 4 grueling Sundays. Same thing even if there was an extension of one week, due to Ondoy. There was certainly no enough time to finish answering all the questions, especially with the unbearable number of questions in the 2009 bar, some say. I can’t judge because I haven’t seen the questions. Perhaps in the days to come, when these questions are dissected at phBar.

Time flies so fast, until last Sunday, 4 October 2009, the last day of the bar exams. After two full days of rest, our battle-weary examinees will begin to realize that, henceforth, time will slow down to an agonizing crawl.

Every day will be a test of patience. Every rumor will be magnified. The suspense will boil to point where you cease to care if you pass or fail — let’s just get this over with (ok, I may be wrong, of course you’d care if you pass or fail).

So, as the waiting game begins, let me to congratulate everyone for surviving the four Sundays of mind-numbing exams. Good luck and God bless, as you wait for the release of the results. You’ll be in our prayers.

Update: It’s Friday, 26 March 2010.

Update: Let’s congratulate everyone who’ve made the interaction in this post interesting (for the rest, please identify yourself so we could add you to the list):

Bauzon, Edward R. (think positive a.k.a. ondoy at manila times)
Dalawampu, Louie Mark M. (bubwit)
Dayo, Jesus Frederick D. (hunter killer)
Espejo, Bernadette B. (badetski)
Garce-Mejia, Racquel F. (on bended knees)
Magcamit, Eric Jay A. (ELA)
Pepito, Charisse Faith T. (miss preggy)
Tagaloguin, Fritz Z. (daques)
Toledo, Maria Joy O. (getintheaction)

Again, congratulations. I hope to see you all in court.

Is it true that the passing rate for tax is only 5% and 10% for criminal law? While commercial law is 20%.

    • HOPER says:

passive, hope u dont mind but i cant agree with ur mindset. the legal profession is the best of all kind as it frees lives, defends what is right. instead, by this raw time, let us erase that kind of perception and be the best lawyers if granted with dignity and principle… OMG teres, who told u dat? hope its not true! let us all pray for the best :)

      • not really says:

        frees lives

i.e. ( former Cong. Jalosjos a convicted felon)

        defends what is right

i.e. ( Fortun as defense for Ampatuan)
( Nachura licking GMA’s butt as an adviser before, even upholding GMA’s abuse of constitutional powers before..)

It’s not about the mindset, it is the “current” fact of life..na pera pera lang yan.
Maraming congressman galing sa matataas sa lipunan pano mo aasahan gagawa ng batas yan na matitino at pro-working class citizen. IF you want to free lives and defend what is right, then try being Bruce Wayne. That is not to say the law profession is sick as F*ck but the challenge to be a “noble” take note not “best” lawyer is fraught with 10,000,000 mg of principle and dignity a day.

As i said and note that “lawyers can be the best lawyers with dignity and principle”. yes, the two u have mentioned are lawyers with greased dignity and bent principles whom i personally dislike but mind u not to shit those exceptionally deserving lawyers. i agree, the facts would demonstrate all bad deeds that surround us but it’s not fair not to appreciate good ones. we cannot move on if we continue confining our minds beneath a mosaic of anger, let’s rather open our eyes of what we and others can do best for our country. “WE CONDEMN GENERALIZED MAXIMS”.

    • Atty Bruce says:

The problem really is the culture of corruption in our country. Everybody has a price tag even those who hold exalted positions in our profession can be bought if the price is right. In short there is hypocrisy in there part. They pretend to get rid of corruption among their ranks but they themselves can be corrupted. As long as this hypocrisy continues, our profession will always be tarnished.

  8. Atty. To Be says:

    Breaking News:

40% passing rate is not impossible says an aide of SC Justice…
Justice Nachura requested all examiners to be considerate in correcting the notebooks…
The rumors that only 5% pass in Taxation is not true says an insider who happens to be a former associate of Prof. Abella, the suspected examiner…
Political law subject has an all time record high passing rate…

    • lex says:

Bravo Atty to Be. Thank you for that great information. At least now we can be assured that the good Justice Nachura will make good his words when he was still a reviewer/lecturer at San Beda and UP that he will give a high passing rate if ever he will become Chair of the Bar exams.

i’ve heard and i hope someone could verify it , that one of the examiners in taxation is justice acosta. and for civil law is justice Dy, maybe that explains why taxation has a lower passing rate. The exams in Mercantile law as they say did the most damage because it gave the most number of D.Q’s, next is legal Ethics, then Civil Law..but then, let us pray that that teh information i heard is wrong, and let us appeal to the mercy of the Chaiman of the BAR Examinations Justice Nachura, to lower the Disqualifiaction grade if not nullifiy the same. Considering, that the this year’s bar exams were really tough and lengthy and we have to brave the forces of nature just to hurdle it. Going to the bar examinations with the 3 sundays raining and then came typhoon Ondoy, with massive floods, considering the fatigue factor, worry and tension we all have to go through, we did finish the four sundays of the Bar exams.. PLEASE DEAR Mr. JUSTICE NACHURA..have mercy on us..God bless to all examinees and Good luck..hope to meet and greet you when we take our oath..

10, 20 or 30 days to go? either when will be fine and i know will keep his word worthy to remember, knowing him as a man of principle and dignity is something that eases my mind and encourages my faith that not less than 40% to the examinees will bring pride to their families… I know that when d day comes, Justice Nachura will mark another history in the field of legal matters. mark that Day with legacy! may the blessings of the Almighty be with all of us!
