With the start of the new year, 2008, those who took the 2007 Philippine bar examination are expected to feel an increasing excitement, which is a better way of putting it rather than “fear,” about the results. The symptoms, which will probably get worse as the days pass by, are obvious — sleepless nights, loss of appetite, mental anguish, anxiety, and, possibly besmirched reputation, extreme embarrassment and wounded feelings. These symptoms, by the way, are elements in claiming moral damages (but how could you claim moral damages for something you voluntarily went through?)
There are a number of usual topics after the exams. Who were the examiners? Are the questions difficult? What are the suggested answers? What is the probable passing rate? The last question is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to answer as compared to the others. Examinees, however, would like to believe that there’s a trend. An urban legend, if you will. For instance, some say that a difficult exam follows a year with a high passing rate, and a high passing percentage is expected after a difficult year.
Of course, there’s no proof to this, but, for the sake of discussion, let’s analyze the passing rate for the last 10 years of bar exams. Lito Basilio presented a great graph at the Bar Exams Forum, reproduced below:
Let’s begin with the belief that a high passing rate follows the year with a difficult bar exams. The problem is this: what’s difficult is subjective. Although there’s some consensus on which year is difficult, maybe let’s just assume that a high passing rate follows the year with a low passing percentage, which is presumably – but not necessarily – difficult. You’ll note that the first part of the 10-year period shows a regular cycle of 2-year low percentage, followed by a very high passing rate. Following that cycle, the passing rate for the 2007 bar exams should be high.
But before you feel relieved, you’ll also note that the last 3 years deviated from the trend. Year 2006, which should have a low passing rate if we follow the trend, has a high passing rate. This apparently follows the general belief — a low passing rate follows the year with a high passing percentage. In other words, the passing rate for the 2007 bar exams could be low.
Now, as I said above, there’s absolutely no basis for this urban legend. In relation to this topic, some say that if you’ll have a dream that you failed, you’ll pass. I don’t know if this is true, but I had the scare of my life when I had a dream that I failed (but made it, thankfully). There are school bets that didn’t make it,while there are dark horses. There are those who are confident that they answered correctly and that they’ll make it — but didn’t. On the other hand, there are those who can’t believe that they passed.
Let’s just wait for the judgment day. Good luck and God bless to everyone who took the 2007 bar exams.

Tinkering with internet tools comes with the bonus of better understanding how existing laws apply to the third wave - that of technology, particularly the internet. This is also a great medium to disseminate and discuss ideas across borders, time, color or creed.

Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things” (Joel 2:21).
Overcome fear by meditating on the promises of God’s love and goodness. Perfect love casts out all fear. When you understand the love of God, you have nothing to fear. You know the Lord will do great things! Let that sink down into your spirit today. Meditate on this verse and declare it out loud every day. As you study God’s Word, your faith will grow and fear will be gone from your life. You’ll know his love, and you will experience His goodness in every area of your life!
Heavenly Father, thank You for goodness and faithfulness. Show me Your perfect love so that I may know You. I choose to rejoice in You and trust that You will do great things in my life! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
My neighbor is the SC Court Administrator. He told me bar results will be out this week. Basta the result will be out before Holy Week. That just confirmed my sorority sis’ info to me who also works in the SC under Justice Gutierrez that results will be out before Holy Week. Oathtaking may be on April 28 but the results will be out just before at least Holy Thursday.
Good luck and God Bless us all 2007 Baristas! “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Let us see through our eyes of faith. See you at PICC!
It is worth to note that before a bar examinee took the bar exam, he did his share. I bet nobody dares to take the bar without doing his part! I mean, prior to the month of September he constantly burn his midnight candle just to literally and figuratively speaking eat all the provisions of the law and to devour whatever jurisprudence available! This is enough for him to feel frustrated and depressed if he cannot ultimately make it.. and this is somehow understandable, for after all our bar examiners are like us, they too are human who are prone to commit mistake. This is the very fact I suppose why we need to pray unceasingly (even after the release of the result). Why? Because we, with humility, want to ask our God to enlighten the minds of the examiners. Personally, I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer in the Bar Exam. What matters here is the appreciation of the Bar examiners to the answers. So in case Juan Tamad failed in the Bar exam, I hope na hindi sana dapat siya laitin. Complete pa rin ang dignidad ng tao at saka failing in the bar exam will not make one criminal na maging dishonorable siya, di po ba? I personally do not know whether I pass or failed in this kind of exam. I surrender everything to Him and for me the passing percentage will not count. What is important is that you are one of those who passed.
Remember, we only see a person through our very human eyes… But the Lord sees the person’s heart.!
Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes to climb out of this boat I’m in
Onto the crashing waves
To step out of my comfort zone
To the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He’s holding out his hand
But the waves are calling out my name and they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times I’ve tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. ‘Boy, you’ll never win!’
“You’ll never win”
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
And the voice of truth says “Do not be afraid!”
And the voice of truth says “This is for My glory”
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth
As i wait for the result of the bar exam, i find comfort in God’s Word.He is faithful and His Word will not return to Him void but shall accomplish the purpose for which it was sent.Nothing is too hard with Him and with God, all things are possible. I place my trust in Him and my confidence comes from Him.He who began a good work in me will continue to complete it.And he can do exceedingly, abundantly, far more than we could ever ask or dream of.
For the revelation awaits an appointed time, it speaks of the end,and it will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it, it will certainly come and will not delay-Habakkuk 2:3
Did you know that how you see yourself determines what kind of life you going to live? Too many people go around with low self-esteem and a poor self-image. Society has a way of conditioning people to lose through failures, rejection, and past mistakes. Don’t let society distort the true image of who you really are, you were born to win! You were created for more than just average. You were created for more than just barely getting by. God created you in His own image! You have the blood of a champion on the inside! You didn’t come from ordinary stock. You came from the best of the best. God breathed His life into you and you have His royal blood flowing through your veins. He has equipped you with everything you need to succeed. You can overcome any obstacle and accomplish every goal in your heart because you have the DNA of Almighty God! No matter where you are, no matter what you’ve done, nothing can change your DNA. If you’ll develop the right image on the inside and see yourself as a champion, God says you will become what you believe and you will live the life of victory He has in store for you!
Any update as to the results of the Bar Exam. ty
March 28. 29% passing rate
Killer subjects:
– Political Law
– Legal Ethics
watch out for dionne marie sanchez, UP law magna cum laude and class valedictorian. i think the last time UP had a magna cum laude was in the 60s or 70s pa so it’s really worth waiting for the results. in addition to being a magna cum laude, ms sanchez graduated as summa cum laude from the UP College of Business Abministration!
we can never say this early that an Atenean will top the Bar. the names of the successful passers will only be decoded on the day the results would be out. so hang on guys. YOU might be one of the top 10 barristers!!!
to mr. vince: how did u conclude that the passing rate is 29%? are u a relative of madams auring or rosa? hahahaha
yup the oath-taking is on the 28th na talaga. if you will notice, the oath-taking date is almost always 4 weeks (eg 28 days and not really 1 month) after the release of the results. this was the case during my time (2003). so the release of the results is this week na talaga.
Is it true? a __%passing is reasonable, Every result is one that it should be… God , thank you for giving us (barristers)this opportunity and bless our task to perform.
Oo nga saan nakuha yung 29% passing percentage?
