If “amici curiae” means “friends of the court,” is it correct to say that “blawg amici” means “friends of this law blog”? Whether it’s wrong or not, let’s put a face and congratulate, in no particular order, those who contributed to the traffic (the reason why this blog broke down at least three times) and who became lawyers (subject to the taking of lawyer’s oath and signing of the roll of attorneys, two requisites before becoming a full-fledged lawyer) in the process:

There are so many others who made it, but unless you folks step up and put a face to your “pen names” (let’s hope Bruno does =), we can’t put them here. Please use the comment section below.
To those who didn’t make it, life goes on. I know many many lawyers who didn’t make it the first time, but are great practitioners today. Atty. Fernandez failed in his first take, then ranked No. 1 in his second try. As I mentioned before, hope is always genuine. We hope to pass the bar exams. But people often forget that hope should not be equated with the outcome. If we do that, we’ll most probably be disappointed. With hope comes acceptance. We strive for something and it is hope that keeps our drive burning. We should learn to accept, difficult it may be, whatever comes out of our endeavors. Then we move on from there. It’s now time to prepare for the 2008 exams this September. Let’s not waste the precious time left.

Tinkering with internet tools comes with the bonus of better understanding how existing laws apply to the third wave - that of technology, particularly the internet. This is also a great medium to disseminate and discuss ideas across borders, time, color or creed.
@alpha_mike, I called up IBP for you. Although they were not able to give me the lifetime fee for new lawyers, this may give you an idea how much.
I stand corrected, you only pay IBP lifetime current year if you pay after the cut off which is June 30. The lifetime fee is P12,500. If you pay before the cutoff, you pay just the lifetime fee.
They gave me the number of the IBP’s division at the SC (526-81-22, Look for Irene) She will provide the exact amount for the lifetime fee.I tried calling but all I get is a busy signal.
hi atty. grace.. wala n maxado nag lileave ng comment nu after mailbas ng result..
Hi cntsmyl. Hope you are doing fine!
edit: pay IBP lifetime plus current year.
I see. Thanks a lot Atty. Grace. You’re very kind. =)

hmm…been a while since i was able to visit the site. been pretty busy lately. now that our new lawyers have been able to celebrate their victory, i’m wondering if there are those still looking for work. Any takers? We’re located in the Ortigas area and are engaged in the general practice of law. Those interested can send their resume to mjsplaw@gmail.com. We’ve already started the screening process but have yet to hire anyone.
congratulations again to all the new lawyers.

hello Weng M.
Sorry, it takes me ages to reply. Yup, i’m from dvoref too. So, you guys going to manila on the 27th na? same here. Can we really finish everything in a day? when do we get to sign the roll? after clearance pwede na? kailangan bang magpa-sched pa?
Hi ggc… i’l fly to manila on the 26th. I already called up the Bar Confidant. Here’s my Itinerary 28 clearance payment of fees (can be done in one day daw). Then 29 syempre PICC tayo… 30th waitlisted lang me for the signing of the roll, kasi full na daw yung list for that day.. first come first serve kasi based sa date of payment of fees. Then kung di pa kaya balik uli ng May 2. Afternoon flight ko pbalik cebu. .. cebu based na kasi me. By the way, when is our testimonial dinner sa DVOREF? any info?
No news ’bout it. But its usually during the acquaintance party…. so, cguro mga june or july ito. I think they’l be sending each of us invitations. Im looking forward to it. hehe. see yah in PICC then…
Hi, Atty. Fred!
Thank you for this site..this had been an invaluable source of encouragement, hope, and comfort while waiting for the results. And also of laughter from time to time!
Reading all the blog entries then and knowing fully well what each one was going through..the bouts of anxiety, tears, sleepless nights, the drinking sessions, and of course, the LBMs!
This is a personal achievement. A sweet, sweet victory. But at the same time, one that is lovingly shared with our families and friends and mentors and everyone who gave meaning to our journey.
May we all live a lifetime dedicated to upholding our Oath (which we would be taking in exactly 19 days from now!) (Yippee!)
But most of all, may all of us remain God-fearing lawyers, knowing that all this came from Him. In all our endeavors as lawyers, may He always be glorified. “That we are the all the King’s servants, but God’s first.” Kudos, everyone!
Hi Weng M.
So full na daw ang April 30 for the signing? Yung iba (especially yung from the province) sa May 2 na? Pls. confirm. I’m from Davao. Tnx.
tonks, yah, sabi ng Bar Confidant full na list for april 30, but they will be giving special preference for those from the province, only that we will be called either near lunch break of late in the afternoon. Prang waitlisted kung baga,… holiday kasi ng may 1 di ba , no office, so may 2 uli.. pero sabi nya i-accomodate yung from the province, ganun naman daw talaga every year. Enjoy the event nlang pañero.
