Bar Examinees Waiting for March 28

Update (March 28): Sorry folks, no results today. The agony of waiting is now officially extended. Results will be released tomorrow (March 30, Saturday) after lunch. I believe we have to change the title to: “Bar Examinees tortured anew, now waiting for March 29″. Good luck and God bless, everyone. Update: LIST OF SUCCESSFUL EXAMINEES here. Congratulations to our new lawyers.

(Original post) By all indications, the 2007 bar examination results will be released on March 28, 2008. Of course, this is unofficial and is subject to possible changes, as the official announcement will come from the Supreme Court. Good luck and God bless, everyone.

Life Goes On . . . After the Bar Exams

There are a few inescapable truths for a law student. Each must face the bar exams before becoming a lawyer. Each one will agonize for months while waiting for the bar exam results.

The more painful truth is this — more than half won’t make it. Read more »

Bar Exams, the Legal Profession and Your God

The bar exam result is usually released, by design or sheer coincidence, after the Holy Week. This makes the Holy Week reflections more meaningful, I guess. Regardless of one’s faith or religion, each one prays to his/her God. Each one implores his/her God to be in the 18% or so examinees who’ll make it. It would seem it’s a matter of who is closer to his/her God or whose God is more powerful. Read more »

Are men slowly becoming extinct in law school?

During my time in law school, I noticed that there were more women than men in our classs. The ratio was 3:1, if I’m not mistaken. I believe the trend is increasing, with more and more women getting into — and surviving — law school. There could be a number of reasons. Maybe women are “discovering” that they’re as smart, if not smarter, than men. Before you hit (or click?) me with your mouse, please read on. Read more »

Waiting for the 2007 bar examination results

Somebody left a comment in this site that the Supreme Court already reserved the PICC for March, in anticipation of the oathtaking ceremonies for those who passed the 2007 Philippine bar exams. On the other hand, somebody said that the reservation was moved to April, which means that the release of the exam results would naturally be delayed (not February 2008, as previously expected). In the next days, there will be more “rumors” as to when the 2007 bar results will be released. To the examinees and their families, hang on. We will post updates here (also at the Bar Exams Forum and the Philippine e-Legal Forum). Update: LIST OF SUCCESSFUL EXAMINEES here.

Do you [still] want to become a lawyer?

It won’t be long until the results of the 2007 bar exams will be released. As always, the examinees (and their families) are going through a difficult stage of waiting for the release of the results. We’ve talked about the agony of waiting for the bar results, but not about the repercussions on those who are still on deck, so to speak. In the words of Lito Basilio, in his comment in one of the articles in this blog: Read more »

Bar Exams Passing Percentage

With the start of the new year, 2008, those who took the 2007 Philippine bar examination are expected to feel an increasing excitement, which is a better way of putting it rather than “fear,” about the results. The symptoms, which will probably get worse as the days pass by, are obvious — sleepless nights, loss of appetite, mental anguish, anxiety, and, possibly besmirched reputation, extreme embarrassment and wounded feelings. These symptoms, by the way, are elements in claiming moral damages (but how could you claim moral damages for something you voluntarily went through?) Read more »

The waiting game (again)

Yesterday, 23 September 2007, marks the last day of the 4-Sunday Philippine bar examination. It marks the last day for our bar examinees to give it all they’ve got. It also marks the beginning of another phase which others consider as more difficult – the waiting game. Read more »

How to Top the Bar Exam

After recently growing the habit of randomly checking the source of “referrals” or hits on this blog, I noticed that one of the search strings reads – “HOW TO TOP THE BAR EXAM“. This is the mark of a confident examinee, someone with a strong drive to make it to the top. As the cliche goes, when you dream, dream big. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. Read more »
