Customizing K2 WordPress theme: resources and tutorials
After deciding that K2 is a great theme and installing it, you may want to customize how your K2 looks and works. There’s a list of great plugins of the install-activate-and-go type. For plugins that require some code tweaking, I mentioned the Bot-Check WordPress plugin vs. Comment Spam. It would have been better to include that post in a general post on plugins that require manual code changes, but since it’s done, we’ll just include these plugins below. For tutorials on how to further customize your K2, you will find these resources very, very helpful:
Nektros – A 7 step guide to fixing your WordPress sidebar in Internet (bloody) Explorer (one, two, three, four, five-a, five-b, six and seven)
Paul Stamatiou – Customizing K2 (parts one, two and three).
Cory Holt – The K2 Diet (part two).
K2 Community Forums (if you have the time and patience to read through everything).
I implemented some of the tutorials, but have no time to dwell in the more advance ones. If you know of other great resources, please let us know so we may check them once we have the time.
Here’s the list that should contain the K2-compatible WordPress plugins that require manual code manipulation:
Bot-Check WordPress plugin vs. Comment Spam (I deactivated this plugin because the SK2 appears to be working just fine)
