(Original post: 26May06) I must confess that I’m no mall rat. I hate the congested parking area and the fact that they charge you for parking in order to buy something in their mall. I hate walking from one end to the other just to buy another item. I hate falling in line, a very long line, just to pay for a pair of socks. I always prefer a stand-alone establishment, where you can simply park in front, without parking fees, buy what you need, and go home in a flash. No sweat. (Post transferred here. That’s why I don’t go to malls at opening dates (and 3-day sales). I haven’t been to MoA, too far from where I live. And I won’t probably find anything to buy, as I don’t have money. =P

I also swore to never go back to MoA the first time, but subsequent visits (on less congested days) made me appreciate how nice the place actually is.
Thanks for visiting BTW.

Arbet,
Now, as to the “don’t have money” part, I find this harder to believe than “I love shopping”.
You should try going to MoA…bring your favorite running shoes. If I hate going to malls, I don’t know what to say about 3-day sales
Ade,
I actually plan of going back to the MoA to check out imax (I wanted to do that when we first went there, tough luck though). Thanks din.

Hi Fred,
How are things? How’s the baby?
Ugh, malls… I understand why you don’t like malls – they’re like fast food centers as far as I’m concerned and I’m not one of those who like big macs, pizza hut or those ready made foodstuff you buy at a counter.
Anyway, so happens that I’m one of those women who don’t like shopping in general, not because I don’t like to look to spend, just that I haven’t got the patience required of a real mall trooper.
I have a list of shops in Paris that I visit when I feel I need new things or to see the latest in fashion, etc. And that’s that. I have my favorite couturiers, shoe shops, appliance shops, electronic shops, antique shops, etc. But I just couldn’t be bothered to go and visit new department stores, I find them too crowded, noisy and just darn too confusing. I like little quaint specialized stores that are cozy, with nice decors, where you get real attention and personalized service.
Friends from Pinas love to go to one of the most famous department stores in Europe when they visit Paris, Galeries Lafayette and often, I’m asked to serve as guide. Oh boy, you can’t imagine how I dislike going to that “mall”… shopping there is like torture to me – just can’t say no to friends so I grit my teeth and I tag or trot along…
Christmas season shopping to me, is a real nightmare.

Hello Anna,
Things are doing great, thanks. Enzo, who will celebrate his first birthday this December, is healthy (thank God).
I was about to say “an affliction of women” in the post, but thought of another way of saying it because someone (like you
) will definitely object. My wife is already done with her Christmas shopping – last month
So, now that I know you’re an expert in the shopping ins-and-outs of Paris…perhaps you could lend us your expertise if (not when), by chance in the distant future, we get there. I’ll definitely ask you to accompany us (well, my wife) shopping.
I noticed there’s a “Hillblogger, Jr.”?

[...] the last movie that got me excited to go to the mall was Lord of the Rings. What I can say, I hate spending time in malls, and in this era where stand-alone moviehouses are simply relics of the past (with the remaining [...]
