National Regular and Special Holidays for 2008 in the Philippines

February 12, 2008

Somebody asked if 25 February 2008 has been declared as a non-working holiday, to give everyone a chance to commemorate EDSA People Power. Well, I’m not yet aware of any Proclamation issued by the President on this matter, so all we can do is wait. In the meantime, here are the regular holidays and nationwide special holidays for 2008, as provided under Republic Act 9492 (an Act rationalizing the celebration of national holidays). As noted in the update, February 25 is a WORKING holiday (Update: Some call it a flip-flopping of policies, but anyway, Malacanang issued Proclamation 1462, declaring February 25 as a NON-WORKING holiday). There’s still no announcement that March 19 is a special holiday, although I’ve heard this is a half-day work for government agencies (and discretionary on private companies).

Same with March 22, there’s no proclamation yet. Most likely, there will be none. Will check if there are updates.

I would like to verify if March 19 was declared special holiday or was it declared half-day work? If ever declared as is, kindly support it with documents like momerandum issued by the government. We really need to prove if it is a special or half day work holiday or just a regular working day? Your respond will be used as proof for a case and will be used as exhibit or evidence.
We are looking forward to your immediate response to this matter.
you may send the details thru the email given above.
    Thank you so much.
