Palabra de Honor

Whenever I have to go out under a heavy downpour, I’m reminded of the 1980s commercial of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP). The commercial is weaved into my subconscious. It shows a son asking his father to postpone going to the bank because of the heavy rain. The father explained that he must go out, go to the bank and pay their obligation. He explained, “Anak, sa kasunduan, ang salita pinaninindigan. Ang pangako, tinutupad.” It’s about palabra de honor. Word of honor. Same with work, when the first thought should be, “I have to go” (not “walang pasok?”). Good thing somebody posted the ad for posterity. Here:

  1. tama itong commercial na ito. im sick of posts sa facebook everybody complaining everytime na may ulan about hnd daw sila waterproof, or yung mga post sa school website na nangunguna sa pagatanong kung walang pasok. mababa na kalidad ng utak ng pinoy no wonder hanggang dito nlng tayo. kuntento na tau manood ng korea novela mag facebook mag picture selfie or dota tapos magrereklamo sa gobyerno.

    mahirap pumasok pag malakas ang ulan tama naman, pero ung utak natin bilang pinoy naka set na sa hnd pagpasok tuwing may ulan. bsta tama itong naisip na idea.
