In a little over two months, we will have our national and local elections. Some personalities and certain events have made the May 2010 elections very interesting. Each candidate say he/she is the better choice. No surprise in that. Perhaps what’s surprising is what you’d say to explain why we should or should not vote for a particular candidate.
Some candidates say that surveys are basically paid and that the results are questionable. That, in itself, is open to debate. Still, if we have the elections today and if surveys are accurate, then Noynoy Aquino would win hands down. He is way ahead of the survey’s second placer, Manny Villar, though Villar’s figures seem to slowly improve (a recent survey placed them in a statistical tie).
Surveys, of course, could be wrong. More importantly, you may have a different vote even if the surveys show otherwise. This is the reason why the rest of the candidates are included. We could say that the lower set based on the surveys (Jamby Madrigal, JC de los Reyes and Brother Eddie and Dick Gordon) are out of the equation, but you may want to vote for them.
You would have a reason for that vote. Let’s hear that reason. Please use the comment form below.

The root of all our problems in our country is corruption. 1 Trillion pesos went to corruption since 2001. I believe the better person to combat this should be genuinely incorruptible.

wow naman.. mag-isip naman tayo. simple logic lang kailangan diyan.. this is not about his fortune, but the basic structural reforms that need to be done.
This fight is no longer about good and evil.. This is all about change..!! all the way!!

I’ll go for Gordon and Binay. They both know project management.

noynoy fans don’t know how to campaign their chosen leader. they keep on saying, “noynoy” without giving any reason. can anybody be dumber than that? noynoy obviously has nothing to offer and no one, as in NO ONE has ever rebutted that AT ALL.

Lito B, who do you think will take us out of corruption… for me, it’s certainly not noynoy…
then who??!!!
pag sure diha ba…
time and again, we’ve been bombarded by a lot of promises, gimmicks, advertising packages from politicians, nonetheless, we cannot say which is certain. I anchor my choice for president to something i believe has a greater degree of certainty, that is:
1. that noynoy aquino will not steal people’s money;
2. that he will defend the democratic institutions;
3. that he has the dedication to genuine and selfless public service that his parents championed.
can you call that “nothing as in nothing”!!!?
at least, sure ako.. what about you anti-noynoy, pagsure diha ba…
what are your proofs? indications? noynoy’s track record says nothing about what he can do. what has he done so far in this country, or even in his town? 9 years of being a congressman and 3 years of being a senator, he has not passed any bill. he doesn’t even have any executive experiences to boast so how can he lead this country. he has no experiences!!! how sure are you that noynoy will not steal money? he was a lackluster as a legislator back then, he’s done almost nothing. to me, that’s similar to stealing money from the gov’t. hwag na lang kaya sya tumakbo, wala naman syang magagawa for this country as shown by his track record!
i’m sorry, there is simply no logical similarity..
doing nothing and stealing are two different things..(tao te ching) pag-sure oie!!!
how sure am I?, I’m sure, noynoy for me got the strongest probablity not to steal among the winnable candidates.. (albeit perlas, delos reyes and villanueva seem to be equally incorruptible).. if you won’t believe it, that’s your problem..
I believe his platform of government to fight for democracy and honest governance is just consistent to his character, as well as to his campaign methodology.. He is the only one who can do that among the winnable candidates…
past experience, (good or bad) is not an absolute gauge of leadership. Platform, honest intention and character must come first.
it’s no longer noy’s problem if he cannot make you impressed coz you’re looking for an omniscient and immaculate leader.. we are democratic anyway..
you better tell me about your candidate.. Perhaps I can help you make a second thought.. hehehe uhu!! uhu!!..

“i’m sorry, there is simply no logical similarity..
doing nothing and stealing are two different things..(tao te ching) pag-sure oie!!!”
yes, there is. by doing nothing as a congressman, he was wasting government money. thus, it is almost equivalent to stealing money. ano ka ba? tatakbo ka lang para kumita at wala ka namang gagawin? ano pa ba ang diperensya nyan sa isang magnanakaw? isa lang = legal ang ginagawa mo. BUT THE EFFECTS ARE THE SAME!
“how sure am I?, I’m sure, noynoy for me got the strongest probablity not to steal among the winnable candidates.. (albeit perlas, delos reyes and villanueva seem to be equally incorruptible).. if you won’t believe it, that’s your problem..”
again, where are your PROOFS and INDICATIONS??? Unlike you, I don’t easily believe in certain matters. I look for PROOFS AND INDICATIONS. I believe that is a valid way of ascertaining whether one thing is true or not.
“I believe his platform of government to fight for democracy and honest governance is just consistent to his character, as well as to his campaign methodology.. He is the only one who can do that among the winnable candidates…”
And you’re focusing too much on his campaigns. Don’t you know that since he took over his campaigns, there were some serious blunders in his management? If he has those blunders as early as now, how can he manage tasks of a president in an efficient and effective manner?
Besides, the campaign period is but a miniscule period compared to the whole lifetime of a certain person. it doesn’t almost say anything relevant. just like advertisements, these presidents would only show their bright sides. you don’t get to see the other side. for me, campaign methodology is a very irrelevant criterion in judging one’s capacity as a president.
“past experience, (good or bad) is not an absolute gauge of leadership. Platform, honest intention and character must come first.”
reason out. I don’t just accept statements without any reason. but i can very well tell you that past experience is VERY VERY IMPORTANT. why? because presidency is not just any privilege or position. It’s a JOB. and just like any job, experiences should be an important gauge in measuring how fit one person is in that job. For God’s sake, this is the most important job in this country. Experience should be the utmost criterion in judging which one is the best candidate.
Platform – not realized yet. can be broken easily. that’s why we have broken promises.
Honest Intention – cannot be measured at all. can only be indicated by certain facts. also, this can fade away easily.
character – everything you see in a person is just the tip of the iceberg. you don’t know him 100%.
“it’s no longer noy’s problem if he cannot make you impressed coz you’re looking for an omniscient and immaculate leader.. we are democratic anyway..”
you clearly forgot that i’m a voter this may. so, I am very important. hahahhaha… plus, i also make a lot of talk about certain candidates that I was able to persuade many. i don’t believe that voting is enough so i try to make things clearer among some people. somehow, i was able to convince some, even noynoy supporters.
“you better tell me about your candidate.. Perhaps I can help you make a second thought.. hehehe uhu!! uhu!!..”
ahahhahaha… i already made up my mind. sorry, you can’t help me make a second thought. your thought process is very very weak. none of your statements ever convinced me. ahahahhahaha…

I’m simply not persuaded!! pagsure diha oie!!
I never said he has done nothing.. I only said there is no logical equivalence to your statement..
That’s why I said “strongest probability” because, of course, nobody is certain about the future, but we can still say what he is going to be by how he was brought up by his parents and how he leads his life.. so far walang bahid at walang duda…
“problems as early as now”, eh limang buwan lang siyang naghanda para sa kampanya, late na nga masyado.. Yet even at that small span of time, he was able to establish a massive campaign and strong local support especially in my province, and in the city where I studied which is moving smoothly right now. Of course, problems are to be expected especially if maraming tao ang gusto makipag-alyansa sayo.. Now, the campaign is going smoothly..
I went over his proposed legislations and oversight functions.. That was long before he decided to run. I’m sure that was not merely for a show.. of course, I admit that there are some presidentiables who have better track records and personal experience.. Only few made me impressed. However, aside from personal consideration, there is also the platforms and party considerations, and the people surrounding them, dyan mo malalaman kung ano talaga and interest na pinananinindigan ng iyong pambato.
All those qualities are indeed subjective. To believe it or not is likewise subjective.. Well I’m still a young voter and I don’t personally know him. But my uncles and their friends know him and are now supporting him wholeheartedly..
I know botante ka, at botante rin ako.. Encourage more people as much as you can, (that’s part of our democratic process) but be fair enough to expose the pros and cons.. Hwag yung iboboto mo si kwan (who’s that guy again?), dahil ayaw mo sa isang kandidato lamang, at hindi yung maraming iba pa.. Ako, hindi ko na kailangang mangumbinsi pa, coz i know already from the start the choice of my entire clan..

There is no point of arguing about politics.. anyway, it’s like religion which should never be debated about.. Otherwise, talagang pagaawayan kasi walang nagpapatalo..
The better thing to do is to just respect each other’s opinion. Assess the candidates and follow whom your heart and conscience dictate you to vote for..
For me, my President is no other than Noynoy.. he is what my heart and conscience tell me to vote for..
Go Noynoy.

Pagsure oie,
show us. if you can’t, I won’t believe a word you say. You don’t know much about Noynoy especially his weaknesses and you don’t vote based on good criteria such as past experiences and past achievements. You said it yourself, there are better candidates but you’re still voting for Noynoy. Why???
