In previous years:
The University of the Philippines (U.P.) College of Law has announced the holding of the Law Aptitude Examination (LAE) for academic year 2008-2009. The LAE is the entrance exam for the UPLaw.
The LAE is scheduled on 25 November 2007 (Sunday, 7:30 a.m.), with test centers in UP Diliman, UP Cebu, UP Mindanao (Davao City) and UP Baguio.
Anyone planning to enter the U.P. College of Law, who has finished or is finishing at least a bachelor’s degree in the arts or sciences from a recognized college or university, is qualified to take the examination upon prior application and proper identification and registration. An applicant can take LAE a maximum of three (3) times effective SY 2007-2008.
Applicants with yearly gross family income of P100,000.00 or less are exempted from payment of testing fee.
The last day of filing of application forms is on 16 November 2007 (without fine) or 23 November 2007 (with fine). Click here to download the application form.
Update (22 January 2008): I heard that the LAE results were released today. Here’s the UNOFFICIAL list, courtesy of Jester (will still have to verify the list tomorrow). Please CROSS-CHECK with the official list posted at the UP College of Law. Please note that the written exam is only the first part of the selection process. There are 301 who passed the written exam. The second phase is the panel interview (schedules will be announced later by UPLaw).
Update (9 April 2008): The official list of those who made it through LAE and are qualified to enroll as first year students at the UP College of Law for the SY 2008-2009 is posted in the UPLaw official website. First part is here and the second part is here.
Update: As appearing in the UPLAW website: “For school year 2009-2010, the LAE will be administered on Sunday, 23 November 2008, in U.P. Diliman, U.P. Cebu, U.P. Baguio and U.P. i passed! yay!
second take ko na. yung first was for last school year, pasado ako sa exam but sadly i didn’t make it to the final cut.
anyway, no interview na nga *daw* talaga this time according to my friends in up law. but what’s the “subject to appearance before the admissions committee” about? wala naman sanang catch ‘to, ano? also, when are they sending out the mails?
how much did the GWA weight on this? Was it like 50/50?
wala bang nakakasagap ng balita kung bakit subject to appearance pa ang mga passers?? wag naman sana interview yan naku po! haha
wag naman po lord..baka mapurnada pa ang pagpasa namin lol
afaik, sort of background-check-style-of-interview yang ‘subject to appearance’ requirement ng UP-Law.
kwento kasi kasi sa akin ni iya valldeavilla, a UP-Diliman alumna at naging classmate ko SBC-Law 2003, when she was interviewed by a panel after she passed UPLAE, nagulat sya dahil nahalungkat yung previous two years nya with ADMu-Law which she did not disclose at tinanong sya kung bakit hindi na lang nya pinagpatuloy yung studies nya sa AdMU-Law. she answered it in the most honest way possible only to find out that later that she did not make it into the final cut kaya she ended up studying law at Beda…at siguro lawyer na sya ngayon.
anyways, i am not sourgraping ha. pero doon sa mga nagbabalak mag-aral sa Beda think many times po muna kayo dahil Beda is notorious for its nasty habit of ending many aspirants dream of becoming lawyers (at isa na po ako dun! well sorta, 1 semester lang kasi ako dun kaya di ko na tinuloy and to that aspect, i consider myself lucky for not experiencing being rejected by that school! hehehe).
the problem with SBC is sobrang dami ang tinttanngal nila as freshmen pero malaki ang binabawas nila sa bilang ng student in the next 3 years. like out of 400+ studes , more or less 50 na lang ang matitira.
sa section ko nga, even those who graduated from UP, ADMU, DLSU, UST etc. and really are intelligent people ay hindi rin nakatagal, karamihan nagtransfer na lang sa ibang law schools like Arellano, FEU, UST, SSC etc.
imo, mas pabor ako sa methods ng UP and ADMU sa pagsasala ng mga istudyante nila.
i will try to take up law proper again this year, baka sa Arellano or PLM. wish me luck. well, wish all of us all the luck! hehehe

correction lang.
@ fattyacid: hopefully totoong background check-style lang ang gagawing interview [kung meron man!] as long as you don’t have anything to hide, then it should be fine, right? pero hay. nakakakaba pa rin.
anyway, thanks for sharing that with us. goodluck to everyone!
Hello Sir! Kindly email me results of the UP LAE taken last November 2009. Thank you!

Congratulations to all LAE Passers, especially yung nagreview sa Lae for Crammers, Ms. Feliciano, Mr. Cruz, Ms. Gandia, and Ms. Reyes!

Hi Atty. Fred,
Even if LAE was finally come to its term, im not losing hope that someday I will be admitted through “waiting list system” I don’t know of its exact procedure, but I would like to confirm whther it is true or not.
Atty Fred, do the non-passers still have the chance to be qualified. ‘hope so.
Hello people, don’t lose hope with your dream in landing that prized slot in UP LAW!
For future references, try the LAE for CRAMMERS, a review and training session for LAE applicants.
Refer/copy this url: http://lae4crammers.blogspot.com/.
Trained by our UP Law alumnus, we have produced 4 out of 15 passers or 26% passing rate from the recent LAE! In the LAE for Crammers I in Nov 2007, we had 19 out of 50 or 38% passing rate!
We won’t guarantee your direct admission, but we increase your probability.

if TOR is not available – Honorable Dismissal or Cert. of Grad.
For graduating students – Certificate of Candidacy for Grad
2. Original Cert of Good Moral Character from the Dean and the Guidance Counselor of School last atended to be submitted in sealed envelopes and addressed to the Office of Guidance Services-College of Law
3. 3 ID pictures, size 2×2 against a white background (write your full name at the back and affix your signature in front).
4. One long folder
Hope this helps!
