In previous years:
The University of the Philippines (U.P.) College of Law has announced the holding of the Law Aptitude Examination (LAE) for academic year 2008-2009. The LAE is the entrance exam for the UPLaw.
The LAE is scheduled on 25 November 2007 (Sunday, 7:30 a.m.), with test centers in UP Diliman, UP Cebu, UP Mindanao (Davao City) and UP Baguio.
Anyone planning to enter the U.P. College of Law, who has finished or is finishing at least a bachelor’s degree in the arts or sciences from a recognized college or university, is qualified to take the examination upon prior application and proper identification and registration. An applicant can take LAE a maximum of three (3) times effective SY 2007-2008.
Applicants with yearly gross family income of P100,000.00 or less are exempted from payment of testing fee.
The last day of filing of application forms is on 16 November 2007 (without fine) or 23 November 2007 (with fine). Click here to download the application form.
Update (22 January 2008): I heard that the LAE results were released today. Here’s the UNOFFICIAL list, courtesy of Jester (will still have to verify the list tomorrow). Please CROSS-CHECK with the official list posted at the UP College of Law. Please note that the written exam is only the first part of the selection process. There are 301 who passed the written exam. The second phase is the panel interview (schedules will be announced later by UPLaw).
Update (9 April 2008): The official list of those who made it through LAE and are qualified to enroll as first year students at the UP College of Law for the SY 2008-2009 is posted in the UPLaw official website. First part is here and the second part is here.
Update: As appearing in the UPLAW website: “For school year 2009-2010, the LAE will be administered on Sunday, 23 November 2008, in U.P. Diliman, U.P. Cebu, U.P. Baguio and U.P. Davao.” Deadline is on 14 November 2008 (without fine) or 21 November 2008 (with fine). The form may be downloaded from this link (.doc format or .pdf format). Good luck.

my DLS friend told me that the appearance thingy before the admissions committee is a formality lang daw..pero okay lang background check ahaha i dont mind..i have nothing to hide lol so kelan malalaman kung kelan mag-appear before the committee??
consummatum est. i failed.
sa november ulit take ako.
God bless to those who passed.
Sa november ulit. I’ll be a lawyer in six years instead of the planned five.
ilan nag take ng LAE last Nov ’08?
I passed! yey… Is it true na wala po talagang interview?
on a curious note, does anyone have any information about Ateneo law? puros UP at Beda lang yung mga info na nababasa ko… (“)? thanks
Congratulations to those who passed. See you here next sem.
@jaytee, Ateneo Law will release their results on the 2nd week of APRIL… that’s what the proctor said when I took the exam last December…
The requirements are on the AdMU law website. From what I remember you have to accomplish an online application form and submit 2 recommendation forms as well as passport sized pictures with red background, official transcript of records, etc. I’m not sure what the other testing dates are for AdMU (I think it’s one testing date per month) but you can try calling their office to make sure.
@ passed, hey thanks
i actually already took the test, but then, i think i was too sleepy to pay attention when they mentioned the release date. grabe 2nd week of april pa. that’s quite a long wait… i’m still torn between UP or Ateneo. I have a few months left to decide.
thanks for the info
tagaal naman ng mail nila, time to think: UP did not release the LAE passers they just did release those eligible to enroll….tama ba? In this case many of the takers might have passed the exam yet d eligible to enroll…. what do you think?
i didn’t make it as well… but the should not stop..
nga pala.. ito FIRST time ko mag post dito.. hihi.. ayun.. congrats sa mga nakapasa..
Ngayon na lang ulit me nakapagpost dito…
Grabe I didn’t make. I know nmn tlaga that I will not be passing that very hard exam. I dont have any preparations at all, even on what will be scope of the exam wala me idea, Ang tanging preapration ko lang ay tulog at matinding pahinga from a very exhausting graveyard na trabaho. Next year, I dont know kung mag-rere-take ako. Kasabay ksi xa ng CPA review session ko. But I will try if I can make it to the exam.
Sa lahat ng pumsa, GOOD LUCK and CONGRATULATIONS.
c’mon ry, move on. if you are not eligible to enroll, that means you did not pass. but if that mindset can at least cushion the blow, why not, go ahead. but trust me, those two concepts are one and the same. so move on bro.
i got my score already. i emailed them asking for my score and they replied after a few days. I got a 77 score (GWA+LAE score) and the cut-off was 81. i say, that wasn’t bad a score, but that wasn’t good enough either. so might as well try my luck the next time. good enough i did not expect too much. oh well.. better luck next time.
ey passed out, ano e-mail nila? gusto ko rin malaman eh…
hey passedOUT,
how did you learn of your score?
i believe 77 and 81 both refer to percentile ranks. so if the passing percentile rank is 81. That means, the passing rate is 19%. Therefore, 239 is 19% of 1258 (the number of takers last Nov). If your percentile rank is 77, you are approximately ranked 289th, passedout. That means, you have a very good chance of passing UP LAE the next time you try taking it. Just my theory though…
