Waiting for the 2007 bar examination results
This is my site Posted on February 6, 2008 in Bar Exams

Somebody left a comment in this site that the Supreme Court already reserved the PICC for March, in anticipation of the oathtaking ceremonies for those who passed the 2007 Philippine bar exams. On the other hand, somebody said that the reservation was moved to April, which means that the release of the exam results would naturally be delayed (not February 2008, as previously expected). In the next days, there will be more “rumors” as to when the 2007 bar results will be released. To the examinees and their families, hang on. We will post updates here (also at the Bar Exams Forum and the Philippine e-Legal Forum). Update: LIST OF SUCCESSFUL EXAMINEES here.

The period of waiting in the bar exam is a killer. I believe there is a reason for it. Bar exam in the Philippines is probably one of the toughest exams in the world. You distinguish it from other exams and it brings you back to the fact that the bar is predominantly an essay type exam. Hence, it is not easy to check. It is not easy to compose, and it is not easy to write.

Unlike bar exams in other jurisdictions where they just choose the correct letter of the answer, ours is a special one. The mechanical aspect of writing itself is already a challenge. Such requirement alone can make 25% of the bar takers fail. Then you add the facility in English language, it can put around 15% of the examinees in trouble. You include composition, paragraphing, logic and that can eliminate around 50% of the bar takers already. We are not talking about the knowledge of the law yet.

The law aspect will separate the bulakbols from the studious, those who have updated jurisprudence in the review than those who don’t. Now, adding these all up, we have an exam that is a combination of NCEE, LAE, Civil Service, English Composition, Aptitude, or even PMA entrance exam etc. Who says bar exam is easy and patsamba tsamba? “Baka lumagpak lang yan kaya nasabi nya,” as they say. No wonder many of our bar flunkers breeze through the US’s toughest New York Bar Exam and they can top the same each time even if they take it several times.

Philippine bar exam has its own life, drama and attitude. It grips the country in unexplainable tension for six months. A lot of stories unfold. It can make or break a person, a town or province. It can build or ruin a life. What the heck, this is bar exam Philippine style. Let’s be proud of it and be patient of its mechanics. Believe me, the reason some people hate it is because they cannot accept the truth that they should hate themselves more than the institution.

Now, let’s all be patient and we will get the result in every conceivable format we want. Soft copy, newspaper, magazine, postings on blackboard and if it won’t irk the MMDA, a billboard in EDSA. This is the Philippines and we are Filipinos. This is how we behave as a nation only this time in a microcosm called Bar Exam.

whenever will it be, we cannot do anything about it.. all we can do is just to pray pray and pray.. God is a great God, and HE is the one who has control in everything.. the justices are only instrumentalities our of destiny, but it is God who dictates whatever it is.. So, for as long as our communication with God is intact, then we have the assurance of God’s grace, and that is our SUCCESS.. God bless to all..

March 27, special en banc session, afternoon on that day it will be flash in SC site and website. on the 28th, it will be in newsprints. Kaya mga future paneros/paneras let’s concentrate first on our work then meditate during lenten season. Kaya natin ito mga kapatid. For the meantime kalimutan muna natin ang bar results, anyway, darating at darating yan. Ipokus natin ang ating mga isipan muna sa ibang bagay. Magkikita tayo sa PICC come oathtaking. Let’s be positive. Ipagpaubaya natin ang lahat sa Diyos sapagkat walang imposible sa kanya.

    Hi All-

Not to make you more nervous than it is, but I was checking the bar results news last year, and it was made available at a tv network website at 2:59pm on April 3; and of which by 4pm swamped na ang SC grounds. If its today, then were just waiting for less than 2 hours right? Here’s the link I was talking about : http://www.gmanews.tv/story/36834/306-pass-2006-bar-exams-examinees-swamp-SC-for-list

I’m also waiting with all of you. :)

Atty. Inciong, panyera, thanks for dropping by. Congratulations in achieving your dream. And see you in court one of these days . . . ;)

Veejay is correct that the official announcement will be made a night before the actual release. We already noted this. And, Jack Ryan, we already noted that it will be on the 28th, not 18th. Jc_falcon nicely summarized it.

Buffoon/Freddie Roots (how’s the Pacquiao win? =), it would seem unfair that those who won’t make it, and, unfortunately, more than half won’t make it, the short period would be insufficient to prepare for the coming September exams. But the results during our time came out in May, those who won’t make it this time are in a relatively better position.

As always, good luck and God bless, everyone.
